Family Readiness
My experience as a Family Readiness Volunteer was great until yesterday (03-19-09). It was brought to my husbands attention by his Ssgt that I was to out spoken about the longer hours they have been working and that one of the wife's went to the CO and said I made inappropriate comments about him ( CO). This is all untrue, but it was a reality I had to face. Wife's can be caddy, snippy, clickish, and done right mean; when they feel that someone is trying to "over step there bounds," which by the way I didn't. My husband leaves for Afganistan in 7 weeks and for me this is all so highschool. I am 34 years old and I refuse to let my character be attacked by a group of wife's who have nothing better to do than gossip and spread lies. Deployments are hard for all of us, I don't know why we all can't get along. Why do a few wife's have to make the rest of us suffer? Why doesn't somebody put a stop to this ridiculous behavior? Family readiness is for the families, but it is wife's like this, whom make me not want anything to do with Marine Corp wife's. I know I am not the first wife to experience this situation. I wanted to start this blog to hear of other's experiences. I needed to vent!! My husband stood up for me 100%, that just the kind of husband he is, he knows I would have never done such a thing.

It's so very unfortunate when that kind of thin happens...I've been the FRG Leader for all of my husbands companies and every time I have had an issue but I stuck it out for me to try and help out new military wives and to prove that the nonsense was not going to stop me. Of course it still sucks when you're in the middle of all of that! I hope the best for you as your husband is deployed!
Thank you for your support. I meet with the FRO of the battalion and was asked to come back by not only her, but my husband LT Col.. The work that I have been doing made a big impression on everyone; this was a great feeling for me. I was not only validated in character, but appreciated for all I have done. I completely agree it's very sad when a few insist on ruining things for everyone else! I just recently gave the FRG a chance, so far its been a pretty sad turn out which makes it difficult for those of us whom actually participate to stay motivated... I agree with E we have to stick it out though!
